In some cases, payment terminals will be integrated in e.g. vending machines or other unattended systems.

The certification principle remains of application, i.e. the hardware and software directly handling the payment will be certified in great detail along the procedure described above.

Once certified, a payment module can be integrated in different types of devices. For these integrations EPCI will allow vendors to perform a pre-agreed test set. EPCI will then audit the results and, either on this basis or after a number of additional test, the integration of a certified terminal in a more complex unattended systems will itself be certified.
